Carbon Dioxide, water vapor and methane and other infrared gases are known as what?

Q:PLEASE HELP!

A: CO2, H2O and methane are all greenhouse gases. The sunlight passes through the atmosphere as visible light and it is absorbed by the earth and by these gases. Sometimes the rays are re radiated from these gases skyward as infrared waves. When the earth re radiates the light as infrared waves these gases absorb these longer wavelengths from the earth (hence the term infrared gases). When a gas molecule absorbs light waves the energy turns into molecular motion. This also causes a rise in temperature. The waves can also be re radiated towards the earth keeping the cycle going. This is what causes the greenhouse effect or global warmingInfrared gases! XD
